A BRANCH OF TWIGS

Good news!  We have opened a second " Branch Of Twigs."  My daughter-in-law
is now servicing the N.J. area.   Her new advertising campaign has been a success
with many people complimenting me on her ads.  As an aside, the ads were designed by my daughter at THINKink.  917.593.4480.

UPDATE: Just to let you all know that even though I haven't blogged for a while, we are definitely still doing our thing. Business is good and we are busy. BagelsN'Greens/Package Design

I know I haven't really kept up with this blog but here's a new one.
I have spent the last few weeks working on a new project.  Back in
May, I was approached by the owner of a local bagel shop. 
Bagels N' Greens has one location in Boro Park, and they are getting
 ready to open their second store in Midwood.
They wanted to know if I would design some breakfast packages
for them.  They said that they always have requests and would love
to see what I could do for them.  I loved the idea of designing for
them and so that's what I've been busy with.  I did some mock-ups
for them and they just picked up the two samples.  So far, I've done a
Birthday basket and a Bride and Groom package.  I can't wait to hear
feedback from them.  These are different than the packages that I do
now in that they will have standard menus with the food supplied by
Bagels N' Greens.  I'll keep you posted.

B'SOMIM SPICE ARRANGEMENT

I haven't posted a new blog for a while but it's good to be back. We have had a very busy month. Unfortunately, my mother-in-law, who was a very special women, and who I loved dearly, passed away. On a happier note, my son is engaged and we are very busy with wedding plans.

This is a B'somim, Spice holder done up in a floral arrangement, that I recently made for a customer. The B'somim is used for Havdallah on Motzai Shabbos, Saturday night. I have been told that Chasidim also use it on Friday night. Can anyone shed any light on that? In any case, over the last few weeks, I've received numerous requests for these B'somim holders. Each flower contains the B'somim which is usually a combination of cloves and other spices. The flower stem is a cinnamon stick. I have an assortment of different flowers so that I can match the arrangement to your color scheme. The flowers are arranged in a Kiri wood box. I was trying for an "old master's still life painting" type of look. The colors are very vivid but have a dreamy and natural composition to them. There are 15 flowers in each arrangement and they make a beautiful centerpiece. Each of your guests takes one to use for Havdallah and then can take it home with them as a keepsake.

FOOD PRODUCTS. IT'S THIS LITTLE ATTENTION TO DETAIL THAT MAKES THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A JOB WELL DONE AND A GREAT JOB DONE.

PEOPLE ALWAYS ASK ME IF TWIGS MEANS ANYTHING. SO HERE'S THE STORY OF OUR NAME. A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO, I DECIDED THAT I WANTED TO MOVE INTO A STOREFRONT. AT THE TIME, I WASN'T STRICTLY DOING HOSTESS PACKAGING. I INVITED ONE OF MY BEST FRIENDS TO JOIN ME AND WE COINED THE NAME T.W.I.G.S. FOR TWO WOMEN IN A GIFT SHOP. WE KIND OF THOUGHT IT WAS A PRETTY GOOD NAME. WORD GOT AROUND AS TO WHAT WE WERE DOING, AND BEING THAT MOST OF US ARE ALL OF THE AGE WHERE OUR KIDS ARE MARRYING AND MOVING OUT, BEFORE WE KNEW IT, WE WERE BEING ASKED BY MANY MORE FRIENDS IF THEY COULD JOIN. SO WE WENT TO "THREE WOMEN IN A GIFT SHOP" AND SO ON. WHEN WE GOT TO "TEN WOMEN IN A GIFT SHOP" WE SAID THIS IS NOOOOT GOING TO WORK. WELL, WE INCORPORATED AS TWO WOMEN AND THEN THE WHOLE SHOP THING SORT OF FELL THROUGH. MY FRIEND IS NOW WORKING AS A VICE PRINCIPAL AND I AM STILL WORKING OUT OF MY HOUSE. WE KEPT THE NAME AND MY DAUGHTERS HAVE JOINED ME ON OCCASION SO IT ALL WORKED OUT IN THE END. AND THE STORY IS A GOOD CONVERSATION OPENER.

USUALLY INCLUDE ENOUGH FOOD FOR THE BRIDE AND GROOM

TO LAST A COUPLE OF DAYS. I HAVE FOUND THAT IT IS BETTER

TO DELIVER THE BASKET TO THE WEDDING HALL OR HOTEL ROOM

BEFORE THE WEDDING. THIS WAY, THE COUPLE CAN ENJOY IT

AT THEIR LEISURE. I HAVE EVEN HAD SOME BRIDES TELL ME

THAT THEY WERE SO HUNGRY AFTER THE WEDDING, THEY

STARTED IN ON THE BASKET RIGHT THEN AND THERE.

MANY HOSTESSES, WITH OUT OF TOWN GUESTS STAYING IN

HOTELS, WOULD RATHER NOT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT BREAKFAST

THE MORNING OF OR AFTER THEIR AFFAIR. A SMALL INDIVIDUAL

BREAKFAST BOX GOES A LONG WAY IN SAYING WE ARE THINKING OF

YOU. THEY CAN EVEN BE BROUGHT TO THE WEDDING AND HANDED

OUT TO YOUR GUESTS ON THEIR WAY HOME. IT'S A KIND AND

MUCH APPRECIATED GESTURE.
